Domaine du Facteur NV ‘La Bulle du Facteur’ Petillant Naturel
Pet Nat (sparkling) from Organic, Biodynamic 90 year old Chenin Blanc!!! Located in Vouvray, Mathieu Cosme took over the Domaine de Beaumont from his father in 2005. Before that Matthieu was a rugby player, and later worked at the prestigious domaine Huet in Vouvray. He is now the 5th generation to make wine at the family estate in Noizay. Domaine du Facteur, wich means postman in French, is one brand of the estate which focuses on natural and fun wines. It is certified organic and using biodynamic preparations on the 11 hectares of vines. Mathieu plows the land by horse and harvest is done by hand. Fermentation occurs “naturally”, with indigenous yeast only. Simply stunning.
Populis Wabi-Sabi Red
NATURAL WINE. 36% Syrah, 28% Carignane, 18% Zinfandel, 6% Pinot Noir, 6% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, 3% Tempranillo. Why populis? Because it’s all about you, our friends and allies, our brothers and sisters who want to drink delicious, honest wine. There is not enough wine with soul that we can afford to drink… and we like to drink! So with our powers combined we became populis! A group with but one goal: BRING THE WINE TO THE PEOPLE… But not just any wine… OH NO! We find amazing vineyards all over Northern California where the farming is top notch. Herbicides? NO! Synthetic pesticides? NO! Organic? YES! Old vines? YES! Complex, out of this world terroir? DOUBLE YES! And once we hunt down these special vineyards we do all we can to not screw it up — and by that we mean no additions, no intervention, no tomfoolery– just straight up fermented juice. Wabi-Sabi is the Japanese idea of “perfectly imperfect.” Super fresh, tart and light on its feet. Goes great with just about anything you care to throw at it. Or don’t throw anything but a glass at it, because, well its dank. Even better with a slight chill. Unfined, unfiltered and fermented with native yeasts.
Alejandro Fernández El Vínculo Crianza
100% old vine Tempranillo. It is often said that childhood shapes an individual’s future, and every year from being a boy, Alejandro, following family tradition, learned from his father to make wine using grapes from small vineyards. He is the perfect example of the self-made man. A man who, in his youth, and while holding down various jobs, nurtured his dream of one day running a bodega. However, he had to wait until 1972 to have his own bona fide bodega; a modest 16th century stone-built bodega, from where almost all the winemaking process was carried out. The most exquisite La Mancha traditional building, located close to the Campo de Criptana windmills, was restored and converted into a modern bodega in 1999; the name chosen – El Vínculo – takes its name from the original parent bodega built on the banks of the Duero. This project was conceived with the aim of making limited-production fine wines in La Mancha, a Spanish wine region par excellence. After traveling the length and breadth of the region Alejandro finally found what he was looking for: high-quality, old Tempranillo vines, perfectly adapted to local conditions. If the plants are well cared for, their yield selected and controlled, then the fine wine from La Mancha Alejandro dreamed of making could become a reality. His wines are testament to the first-rate La Mancha grapes grown in exceptional plots that give rise to unparalleled wine aromas and flavours. A rich deeply flavored, spicy laden wine with a gamey edge. By far one of the most complex and structure wines we have tasted from La Mancha.
Corazon del Sol Uco Valley Malbec
Corazon del Sol focuses on high quality Malbec wines from the Uco Valley, a cool climate region. Founded by Dr. Madaiah Revana, who also owns Revana and Alexana, he was enamored by the climate and terroir of the Uco Valley and founded an estate vineyard based winery, Corazon del Sol. The 17 acre estate vineyard is planted at the base of the Andes at an elevation of 3,000 feet. The winery has a stunning backdrop, as the vines are set on deep, alluvial soils, comprised of rock and sand which has eroded from the Andes Mountains over thousands of years. Consulting winemaker Santiago Achaval and winemaker Cristian Moor craft some great wines. Heady aromatics of black pepper, violets, black tea, Milk chocolate and sagebrush. There are ripe flavors of black tea, black cherry, roasted figs, mint and mocha. This is rich and delicious forward style Malbec with a silky mouthfeel that needs a juicy burger. An authentic expression of high-elevation Malbec from some of the rockiest soils in Uco Valley. Fresh, floral and vibrant with plenty of natural grape tannin and structure to evolve for years. On the nose, black raspberry, crushed violets, earth and plums. On the palate, vibrant fresh black fruits with elegant fine tannins and benchmark high elevation Malbec acidity
