DIVISION CHARDONNAY “UN”
We are once again very pleased that our Chardonnay cuvee features the amazing, but very limited old vine fruit from Eola Springs Mendoza clone block. We also continue to work with our favorite Biodynamic site, Johan Vineyards, as well as Methven Family Vineyards in the Eola-Amity Hills. The vintage was perfect for the old vine sites, which sometimes struggle to ripen in cooler years. They were both dense and flavorful, but still nervy and vibrant at the core, not to mention in near perfect health! Furthermore, the two Dijon site really shone this year in a way they had not in very warm previous years. The 2017 Chardonnay “Un” is a return to the more acid driven style we love from this glorious grape. The aromatics are a nice balance of orchard fruit such as pear with hints of marzipan. (Think pear almond tart, but not too buttery.) The palate is lively with gorgeous fruit and mineral characteristics and tons of length. The 2017 Chardonnay “Un” is, in our opinion, better balanced, with fresher acidity than the 2014 and 2015 vintages, but with the textural element of barrel fermented Chardonnay. We are pleased with the vintage and believe the wine is both ready to drink, and capable of further development in the near term.

Weingut Neiss Spatburgunder Bockenheim
100% Pinot Noir grown on limestone rich soils, planted over 25 years ago. In 1959, Ludi Neiss and his wife Christine were farmers with a winery. In the 1970’s, they converted all of their holdings to viticulture, and in 1997, their son Axel Neiss took over. A fifth-generation winemaker, Axel modernized the family’s wine estate. In this northern, cool-climate region, vines grow deep roots in mineral-rich soils, with large amounts of chalk. Half of the family’s vineyards are planted with white varietals and the other half with red. Light ruby color with the distinctive cassis nose. Hints of something smokey and wooden with fresh summer fruits. Filling and rounded aftertaste with plenty of black currant, cherries, and raspberries. Discrete acidity in the background with very mild tannins.

Anne Pichon “Sauvage” Syrah/Grenache AOP Ventoux
80% Syrah / 20% Grenache, certified organic, unfiltered, no sulfur additions. Marc Pichon purchased Domaine le Murmurium in the Cote de Ventoux village of Mormoiron in early 2008. It’s comprised of 13ha of old vineyards on prime terroir adjacent to Chateau Pesquie. All of the vineyards are cultivated using 100% organic practices without the use of any chemicals or pesticides and the soils are tilled manually. Additionally, all harvesting is done by hand and each varietal is vinified separately. Gorgeous lush grilled plum, black pepper, raspberry, black cherry.

Syncline Subduction Red
40% Syrah / 20% Grenache / 15% Mourvedre / 14% Cinsault / 11% Carignan. Columbia Valley (74% Horse Heaven Hills, 12% Red Mountain, 7% Columbia Valley, 5% Columbia Gorge, 2% Yakima Valley). Subduction Red is more an exploration of the Columbia Valley than a representation of any one varietal or vineyard. The grapes are sourced from throughout Horse Heaven Hills, Red Mountain and Yakima Valley, all from vineyards with which we have long term contracts. What is important for us lies in what each site contributes to the overall blend. Long inspired by the wines of the Southern Rhone Valley, this is our answer to a Washington version of a Cotes-du-Rhone Villages wine. This charming, ruby colored wine exhibits black raspberry and cherry aromas and flavors. The bright, fresh finish, juicy mid-palate and excellent length provides a wine that is compatible with many foods and occasions.
