Tatomer Stenhugel Riesling

In 2008 I founded Tatomer with two Riesling vineyards. My intention was to use my knowledge to make bone-dry Riesling in California unlike many of the off-dry examples in the marketplace today. I made a mere 400 cases in a small corner of a good friend’s boutique winery. Since then, I have added one more Riesling vineyard, as well as two Grüner Veltliner vineyards for a total production of 1,100 cases. This wine has green apple and floral notes that meld into the nuanced, midweight finish as the wine picks up energy and intensity with a little bit of aeration. The 2016 was done 60% in steel and 40% in neutral 500-liter barrels.

Bleecker Chardonnay

Bleecker Chardonnay was born from a winery error in the shipping and blending of our Wyatt Chardonnay 2010. By accident, one of our winery partners shipped us some 2009 Chardonnay which was inadvertently blended into a tank with some 2010 juice. Because blended wines are not entitled to vintage status, we decided to de-classify this tank and produce a delicious, clean, everyday Chardonnay at an even more delicious price! The wine is 100% tank fermented, and offers up notes of tropical fruit and hints of apples.

Bleecker Cabernet Sauvignon

Bleecker is a label of Wyatt Winery, who work closely with multiple growers and winemakers in California and craft wines “using declassified wine that often sells at a much higher price under other labels” To help create added quality and character, we work with several winery partners in California who help us to create a base wine that is itself well about the fray. And then to these base wines, we add a good percentage of wine coming from small lots of a much higher pedigree and appellation. These are often declassified wines, usually aged in top-quality french oak barrels, that come from wineries that sell their wine at $30-$40-$50+ a bottle.

Terre Rouge Garrigue

At Terre Rouge, we specialize in wines made from Rhône Valley varietals. For this wine we were inspired by the wines that originate a bit further South along the coastal Mediterranean where vineyards grow along side the garrigue, French for the local chaparral. Our vines grow in a similar environment, surrounded by manzanita, pine, toyon, yerba santa, and chamise. This is a blend of two-third’s Syrah and one-third Cabernet Sauvignon that is complex and savory, while still being accessible now. It is modestly-priced and eminently quaffable. This is our new “go to” week night wine to have with burgers, hanger steak, or herb roasted chicken. A blend of syrah and cabernet from our mountain vineyards, it drinks very rich and smooth with a touch of our local garrigue.
