Asheville’s Best Free Wine Tasting

September 12, 2018 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Our Wine Wednesdays, include one *free sample from each of our hand selected fine wine features (up to four wines). New wines are chosen each week.

De Paolo Vino Frizzante Prosecco
100% Glera (the relatively new name for the Prosecco grape). The family-owned company is nearly 100 years old but were, until recently, only grape growers rather than winemakers. Half the pressure of Champagne, sealed with a cork and twine. This soft, off-dry, gently sparkling style is in fact how Prosecco was originally conceived. No need for a celebration at this price, buy two!

Jean Marie Reverdy La Villaudiere Sancerre
Handed down through several generations, our 15 hectare family estate is surrounded by vineyards and overlooks the pretty village of Verdigny. This unique location offers stunning views of the famous Sancerre hill and its vineyards. Today Jean-Marie REVERDY has followed his calling and manages a flourishing Domaine de la VILLAUDIERE with his wife, Catherine, and and his two sons, Guillaume and Baptiste. This wine displays a limpid, pale yellow hue with golden highlights. Expressive on the nose, combining floral fragrances with aromas of white peach and exotic fruit (pineapple, passion fruit). Well-balanced and honest on entry, the wine is underpinned by freshness and powerful, long-lasting acidity on the finish, revealing a lovely minerality. You will love this characterful Sancerre served with fresh goat cheese, or with shellfish or poultry in a cream sauce.

Bodega Calle Alberti 154 RSVA Malbec DOC Lujan de Cuyo
At the crossroads of four corners and four historic wineries, Luigi Bosca, Baldini, and Lagarde, Bodega Calle is located on their southwest corner. A small-lot, gravity-flow, red wine making studio located in the prized viticultural area of Luján de Cuyo. The winery concentrates on varietal wines and premium red blends sourced from viticultural areas throughout Luján and Valle de Uco. All wines are made with the use of gravity and are never pumped to deliver the grapes to the fermentation tanks. All grapes are farmed without the use of herbicides or pesticides, are hand picked and sorted and vinified using native yeasts, which results in a more gradual fermentation curve and less intervention with refrigeration. Bodega Calle is a certified organic winery and the wines are GMO free and vegan. DOC Luján de Cuyo is one of only two certified viticultural areas in Argentina. It was originally certified in 1989 and is limited to 144 square miles. The vineyards must be of traditional old-vine vertical trellis, originally planted in the area. Vineyard plant density must be between 1822 to 2227 plants per acre. The vines must be pruned in the Guyot system and irrigated via snow melt run-off. Maximum grape yields must be at or below 2.5 tons an acre. The blend must be at least 85% Malbec (this is 100%). The wine must age 12 months in barrels and at least 12 months in bottle. It must be estate bottled. Garnet black color. Bright, attractive, creamy aromas of berry buttercream, roasted nuts, and caramelized smoked bacon with a satiny, bright, dry-yet-fruity medium body and a smooth, amusing, medium-length caramel apple, delicate spice, toffee, and cedar finish with fine, silky tannins and light oak. An attractively juicy and easy drinking Malbec that is sure to please

Bodega Calle Dharma Reserva Organic Petit Verdot Blend
65% Petit Verdot/ 30% Merlot / 5% Malbec, Dharma is all about the natural essence of wine made with the most natural processes possible. The grapes are organic and bio-dynamically farmed. The winery is organically certified and all grapes are delivered to the tanks via gravity and fermented with native yeast. The wine is vegan in that no animal products were used in any part of the winemaking process. GMO free. Single Vineyard. Co-fermented with 5% Malbec. The wine was meticulously cellared for 12 months in first and second use french oak barrels then blended and bottled. Aged one year before release. Dark garnet rim and opaque body come across with ripe blackberry, black cherry and plum notes, tar, rubber and pencil lead, yielding to grippy tannins and mouth coating persistence.
