Farmstrong 2017 Field White 375ml CAN
FROM THE WINERY: Grenache Blanc, Albariño, Verdelho. The Farmstrong White Field blend is fragrant yet a little mysterious, a mélange of white peach, star fruit, Mirabelle plum and even a shiso/Meyer lemon tart. It’s fresh, vibrant and alive—a dancing lemon drop enjoyed under the light of a full moon. This is the wine that goes in the bottle of Farmstrong Field White, however, now this wine is also conveniently located in a 375mL can. Being a busy outdoorsy type myself the idea of delicious wine that was in a light and portable package became something of great interest to me. I decided to offer these wines to you in this format, now you can bring her with you wherever life’s adventures take you. Some of my favorite spots so far have been the beach, hiking, sailing, but the options truly are endless!! The Can’s are light, they chill down faster, they don’t break, and heck, let’s face it, they are just fun! So crack a can, I promise you…it will just happen, you will crack a smile too, enjoy!

Louis-Antoine Luyt Pipeño Pichihuedque Liter
He may be a native Burgundian, but Louis-Antoine Luyt has quickly become a seminal voice in the fight for independent, terroir driven winemaking in Chile. In a country where wine production is run almost entirely by enormous industrial wineries, L.A has managed to source fruit and rent vines from independent farmers throughout the Maule Valley. Furthermore, his insistence on dry farming, horse plowing, organic viticulture and native yeast/intervention free winemaking are welcome proof that wines outside of Europe can successfully be produced with this work philosophy. 2010 was the first vintage of the Paìs line, the only line of Chilean wines following the European model of using the same varietal to highlight different terroirs. In such, each bottling is named after a specific parcel: Quenehuao, Pilen Alto and Trequilemu are all “lieu-dits” with their own soil composition, expositions, elevations and micro-climates. Chile was never struck with phylloxera, and these vines are all very old and still on their original rootstock. The Quenehuao vines are 300 years old!

Domaine Filliatreau A.O.C Saumur-Champigny “La Grande Vignolle”
Domaine Filliatreau, a large estate of about 50 hectares located near the city of Saumur, is run by Paul and Frédrik Filliatreau, père et fils. The vineyard of La Grande Vignolle, in the Saumur-Champigny appellation, rests atop a tufa-stone outcrop that runs along the Loire river for a number of kilometers. During the 16th and 17th centuries, the stone, a creamy colored limestone, was quarried for building some of the great monuments and châteaux of the Loire. Cave dwellings and a few formidable houses were actually carved into the cliffs. The La Grande Vignolle label is a depiction of this site. The soil and subsoil of the vineyard are highly calcareous. This type of soil lends the Cabernet Franc grapes juicy flavors and good acidity. The vines are of considerable age and yields are kept low. The wine is vinified in stainless-steel and bottled unfiltered. It is rich in red fruit flavors, with a touch of tobacco and licorice in the finish and has excellent aging potential. Paul Filliatreau, who twenty years ago did much to put the AOC Saumur-Champigny on the map of great wines, has resolved to go back to “older ways” of tending vines and found the principles of bio-dynamie well suited to this purpose. This is insanely layered, dense Cab Franc, laden with smoke.

Hobo Wine Co CAMP Cabernet Sauvignon, Sonoma County
Camp wines employ native yeasts and malolactic bacterias for the primary and secondary fermentations without the use of commercial fermentation aids or additives. The wines are aged in real oak barrels and/or stainless steel tanks vs. alternatives or flavoring agents. The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is 86% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Trieb (organic) and Lloyd (sustainable) Vineyards in Alexander Valley, the Prior (organic), Shamwary (certified organic), and Morrison (certified organic) Vineyards in Sonoma Valley, and Puma Springs (certified organic and biodynamic) in Dry Creek Valley, 12% Merlot from the Morrison (certified organic) Vineyard in Sonoma Valley, and 2% Malbec from J Rickards Vineyard (sustainable) in Alexander Valley. All lots were fermented in stainless steel with a minimal 1-2 punchdowns or pumpovers per day and aged 9 months in neutral French oak barrels.
